2025 SPECIAL CENSUS
The City of White House is proud to announce that the 2025 Special Census is officially underway with the launch of the Internet Self-Response (ISR) phase. After months of preparation and coordination with the U.S. Census Bureau, the community’s opportunity to be counted—and to help secure vital funding—is here.
Starting the week of July 23, all households in the City of White House will begin receiving official mailers from the U.S. Census Bureau. These mailers will contain a unique identifier code and step-by-step instructions for completing the census online. Residents are encouraged to respond as soon as possible to ensure they are included in the updated population count.
The ISR phase will remain open through August 22, 2025. During this time, residents can complete their census response quickly and conveniently online using any internet-connected device. The City urges all households to respond promptly to avoid the need for in-person follow-up.
For households that do not respond online by the deadline, the next phase of the Special Census will begin on September 1, 2025. Census workers will begin going door-to-door to collect information from non-responding residences. This traditional field enumeration effort will continue through the end of September to ensure every resident is counted.

City Administrator Gerald Herman emphasized the importance of participation, stating, “Now is the time for every resident to step up and complete the census online. It’s fast, easy, and directly impacts the future of White House. The more accurate our count, the more funding we receive for roads, public safety, and other essential services.”
Originally announced earlier this year, the Special Census is being conducted in response to the City’s rapid population growth since the last federal census. The City has partnered with the U.S. Census Bureau and invested over $581,000 to carry out this local population count. A successful census could result in an increase of approximately $875,000 per year in state shared revenues—dollars that go directly toward improving the quality of life for all residents.
The certified results of the census are expected in early 2026, with any updated population numbers going into effect for state funding allocation beginning July 2026.
Every person counts. Complete your census online by August 22 and help shape the future of White House.
Why the Census is Important
Participation in the Special Census is crucial for the future of the City of White House. Accurate population data allows for more precise planning and funding allocation for schools, roads, and emergency services. More importantly, it helps ensure the city receives its fair share of state funding, which is directly tied to the population count. By participating, residents are directly contributing to the development and growth of their community.
How the Census Will Be Conducted
The Special Census will begin with an online response phase. The U.S. Census Bureau will mail invitations to all housing units starting July 23, 2025, encouraging citizens to submit their responses online through the Internet Self-Response (ISR) system. This phase will last until August 22, 2025, and will be supplemented with multiple reminder mailings to encourage participation.
For residents who do not respond online, Census Day will take place on September 1, 2025, marking the beginning of in-field operations. Census representatives will start going door to door to gather responses from households that have not submitted online data. This effort will continue until September 30, 2025, ensuring all White House residents are counted.
Certification and Final Reporting
Once the census is complete, the collected data will be compiled, reviewed, and prepared for certification. The final certified report is expected early 2026, confirming White House’s official population and its eligibility for increased state funding based on the new count.
